¿How can I check my nationality application status without a digital certificate?-
You can check the status of your Spanish nationality application by residence through the official consultation page of the Ministry of Justice (https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/eConsultas/inicioNacionalidad).
The necessary data for the consultation can be found in the receipt of your Spanish nationality application by residence. You should have downloaded this receipt if you submitted the application yourself, or it should have been provided by the professional who submitted your application on your behalf.
If you completed the process with Legal en España, we provided you with this receipt immediately after submitting your application. Additionally, we extracted and delivered the consultation details separately, so you don’t have to search for them in the receipt—you will always have them at hand. What happens if I don’t know the file number?
If you do not know your file number and have lost the receipt of your application submission, there is no need to worry if you completed the process with Legal en España, as we will directly inform you of your file number and provide you with a copy of your submission receipt.
If you handled the process on your own and lost the submission receipt, you can try contacting the Ministry of Justice by phone. With some luck, an official might provide you with your file number. Otherwise, the best course of action is to seek professional assistance to help you obtain a copy of your submission receipt.
This is extremely important, as at any point during the processing of your application, you may receive a request for additional actions or documentation. If you fail to respond to this request, your nationality application will be archived. Regardless of whether you accessed the content of the document or not, if you do not find out what is required and provide the necessary information, your application will eventually be archived, forcing you to start the entire process from scratch.
